About Me and My Class Structure

My name is Shaundretta Bethel-Crenshaw. I am a student at the University of South Alabama. My major is Elementary Education. Upon graduation I plan to teach the First or Fourth Grade. I am married to a wonderful man by the name of Curtis Crenshaw. We have two beautiful girls, Amya and Aubree Crenshaw. In my classroom I would like to have an open door policy so that all of my student’s parent feel comfortable.
I would like to welcome all parents to my website. It is designed to give parents insight on how my class will proceed during the school year.
I will go into detail about my class objectives, expectations, approaches, teaching techniques and some of my teaching tools.

My Approaches

My approach to teaching is to do whatever it takes t get that student to learn. I am willing to go to the extreme to teach my students.
Every child learns in a different way. My goal is to find out every child's learning style. After I have identified each style I am going to place the students with similar learning styles in groups so they can help each other. After a couple of weeks we will then start rotating groups so that the students can learn the difference in the styles.

My Objectives

To teach the state learning goals and essential academic
learning requirement
To learn each of my student learning style
Last, to have/make my students "Techno Savy"

My Teaching Tools

Teaching Tools for my class consist of every free tool that I can find on the Internet!! I was taught by my Teachers in college to "Get The Freebies". I want to teach my students to use all the Google Tools and Gadgets that would pertain to my class. I would also use Facebook's Quizzes to help asses my students knowledge so I can find out a starting point.

My Teaching Techniques

I love group activity. It teaches the students how to interact with each other. Group activities makes the kids feel stronger because they work as a team. I also love teaching through hands-on activity. Every chance we get at an outside activity or field trip we will be sure to take it. Parents are always welcomed in my class so feel to join in on the fun!

My Expectation as a Teacher

My expectations for this class are for all my students to comprehend the curriculum provided by the state.
I expect every student to know that I am here to teach and that's my goal. Social Skills are a big part of my lesson plan. I think that students must
possess social skills to be able to learn effective. I will also be working on how to get students to think critically. We will learn different learning styles and each child will choose which styles they learn with best and we will implement them in class.
I expect every child to have FUN in my class. This is the biggest lesson to be learned. I want my student's to know learning is the key to success so have fun doing it.
